I’m The Bow Tie Attorney, a Chicagoland real estate lawyer who helps people get from “we have a deal” to “we have the keys” without all the panic in between. Before I was a lawyer, I worked as a chemist. That season of my life trained me to be careful with details, to test assumptions, and to stay calm when things get complicated.
Later, I became a real estate broker and spent my days with buyers, sellers, and agents at the table. I watched deals fall apart over small misunderstandings and come back to life because someone slowed down and explained the numbers. That experience still shapes how I practice law today. I do not just read documents. I pay attention to what people are worried about, how the deal is structured, and what could go wrong if no one speaks up.
At EV Häs, LLC, I represent buyers, sellers, and investors from the first contract to the final signatures at closing. My focus is simple: clear communication, quick responses, and accurate work. On a practical level, that means negotiating terms, clearing title issues, coordinating with lenders and brokers, and dealing with the “we have a problem” emails that show up right before closing.
For a long time, people reached out to me after something had already gone wrong. I was the “after-the-fact attorney” they called when a deal was on fire. Those situations taught me how to move fast, protect my clients under pressure, and build better systems so the same problems do not keep happening.
Outside of private practice, I serve as General Counsel for two nonprofits that focus on revitalizing housing and expanding affordable homeownership. The goal is bigger than any single file. I want families and communities in and around Chicago to build stability, equity, and long term wealth through real estate, one closing at a time.
